The site express an extraordinary challenge to interact geographically as well as symbolically with the existing nature and the important prehistoric elements. The new museum becomes part of the landscape being itself the link between the two main levels of the prehistoric park.In fact it is built as a double spiral accessible inside (Museum) and outside on its roof (promenade). The Spiral construction allow to solve as synthesis the different criteria demanded by Gyeonggi Provincial Government. The new Museum becomes so as well a discovery-walkway through natural history. The spiral shape reminds to a fossil as well as a coring excavated on the ground. On the hill side (precipice) the circular wall of the new construction are directly excavated in the basalt and shown as part of the exhibition experience. The idea of the never ending screw or “infinite Museum” allows at least three visiting ways. Each of them give the visitor a different perception of the exhibition: quick look, deep involvement and pass by to the outdoor archeological excavations in the park.
