APARTMENTS

The prestigious hill on the west side of the town of Lugano has been aggressively built during the last decades and besides few fortunate interventions it has been a race for speculation. The chance to find a quite large piece of land free of constructions and in one of the most beautiful spots encourages us to take the challenge to propose a typology that aims to respect the gentle slope of the mountains above the Lugano lake. The project foresees 35 apartments set following the slope so that each of them has a private garden and therefore set on the ground floor. The emerging part of the volume is reduced to the terraces that seem to hold to the mountains as they would be retaining walls. This typology allow the people to get the greatest privacy and open view, to keep the larger part of the plot as garden, to use it and to reduce to zero the impact of the traffic (all cars are placed in the underground parking).
